Wood carving from Southeast Asia has made an enduring impression on the world of art.  Families of wood carvers pass on their expertise from generation to generation.  It is not unusual to find grandfathers, sons and grandsons working together to share their skill and inspiration.  In our own small way, we hope to encourage these artisans to continue this tradition and offer our customers the chance to appreciate this amazing craft.  There is literally something for everyone and every budget, whether it is a delicately carved image of a Balinese dancer, Thai elephant or elegant textile hanger.

Southeast Asian skill in fiber art produces textiles that are timeless decorating favorites.  Ikat blankets, scarves and wall hangings from throughout the Indonesia archipelago  represent generations of weaving tradition, each piece an island signature.  Sumptuous silk shawls and scarves from Thailand and Laos illustrate their history and are elegant additions to any style of home décor.  Vietnamese crafters are producing  fine embroidery on silk featured in our line of Duvet Sets, Quilted Bedcovers, Pillow Covers and Table Runners.  We work with our Tribal sources north of Hanoi  to create disctintively styled home accents using reclaimed ethnic costumes.  Our extensive collection of authentic textiles represent the varied indigenous family of ethnic groups from throughout Southeast Asia.   We find that using these Asian details in home décor can work for many tastes from simple contemporary to sophisticated elegance to tribal “funk.”  Home decorating tools have become an increasingly important aspect of our Asian shopping as we look for ways to make our living space distinctive and delightful.  We are famous for our collection of traditional, triangular pillows, floor mats and massage pads from Thailand.  Our selections now include Zafu for meditiation.  (We like to encourage that kind of behavior.)  Decorating with textile art is made easy with our extensive array of wooden and bamboo textile hangers, something for every style and budget.

Housewares for everyday use are not only practical, but beautifully affordable.  Horn, Rosewood, Coconut and Shell are used in our Chopsticks, Salad Sets, Bowls and Spoons.  Baskets define the mix of art and function, whether it is a Thai rice basket, Vienamese harvesting backpack, Javanese coffee container or Lomboc tray that combines wood and rattan.  You will be especially impressed with our selection of finely woven Ate Grass baskets, placemats and purses, all handmade in a centuries old tradition from Tenganen, Bali. Celadon ceramics from Thailand are a classy addition to any theme and lacquered bamboo from Vietnam brings a little “bling” to your table.   We support careful use of resources and offer furnishings made from recycled or plantation teak, locally abundant woods and prolific bamboo.

Saa paper from Thailand has been one of our favorites over the years.  This environmentally sound product is hand made from the bark mulberry as it naturally falls from the trees at the end of the rainy season.  We offer a complete assortment of cards, notebooks, photo albums and sheets of this wonderfully decorated product at very reasonable prices.
